Clear lenses and Billet Bowtie

Why didnt Chevrolet do it this way??
I've been wanting to do this for a while now, since the orange turn/park lenses dont really appeal to me on an all blue front end.

The "X" before the much needed transformation

After I got finished and how it should have come from "The General."
Ahh a naked "X"!!
After the grill removal. I took the headlights out because it gave me more room to get to the grill and also the park/turn bulbs. there are lots of little clips on the back of the grill. There are two on each side of the hood release and three on each side around the park lights and one in the middle. Be very gentle!!!!
This is what happens if your not gentle
I had plenty of people tell me to put a towel between the grill and the bumper, but I couldnt get it to stay. Boy dont I wish I would have taped it down or something!
Here are the lenses from the back side
There are two clips that hold the lense in. One is in the far left of the picture over by the reflector. The other is the U shaped one by itself in the middle. Between these two and in the far right are the clips that hold the grill to the truck.
The back of the bowtie
All you have to do is take off those two nuts and the factory bowtie will come off. I had a little trouble getting one off, due to the fact that the studs are plastic and the nuts make there own threads. One was tightened too much and was stripped out. Also in the center of the picture is another clip that holds the grill.
The finished install, before its reassembled.
The only problem I had was the studs on the new bowtie were just a little close together. This prevented the bowtie from going on, but a dremel tool with a small sanding wheel remedied that problem.
Then reinstallation is the reverse of removal
This is a much cleaner look. The only thing left is getting the Xtreme and S-10 on the liscence plate filler done in silver. In my opinion the billet bowtie looks much better than an SS bowtie would have.
